Về cơ bản, cấu tạo thì CPU PC giống với CPU máy chủ đều gồm 3 phần :

• Bộ điều khiển ( Control Unit )
• Bộ số học-logic (ALU-Arithmetic Logic Unit)
• Thanh ghi ( Register )
  

Điều khác biệt cơ bản là

• Tốc độ xử lý (Speed), xung nhịp
  

CPU PC tốc độ xử lý xung nhịp nhanh, đáp ứng nhanh và tức thời. CPU PC thích hợp với làm việc cá nhân, chơi game. Nhưng do xung nhịp cao nên CPU dễ nóng và độ bền thấp hơp CPU máy chủ.

CPU Intel Xeon bền bỉ hơn so với CPU PC,có thể xử lý nhiều tác vụ cùng 1 lúc, khi làm việc liên tục trong thời gian dài thì ổn định hơn và tản nhiệt tốt hơn so với CPU PC.
